WHAT AM I DOING?
The questions surrounding how we act together are at the core of my practice. I work reflexively with others to examine how and why we conform to systems and what the possibility of breaking with a pattern might offer.
I am involved in ongoing practical research into structuring live events and processes, which open up spaces for active examination and critical exploration of a subject, by those present. I am keen to develop forms, which offer the potential for participatory and active research through filmmaking or screening, performing or playing games.
In 2010 I founded the Samsonov Film and Theatre Cooperative, a collective of performers, cinematographers, sound designers and editors, experimenting with alternative film making methods. The project culminated in a feature film ("The Inspection House (training for the family in how to act)"), which employs, unpicks and reconfigures the structural "rules" of narrative cinema's 'hero's journey'.
I studied Graphic Design in Bristol, Painting at the Royal College of Art, and Cinematography at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Lodz; I was also a member of the Lux Associate Artists 2011. I live in London and Warsaw.
