    Pawlak was a member of the Lux Associate Artists 2011, she also studied Cinematography at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Lodz, Poland, BA Graphic Design in Bristol, MA Painting at the Royal College of Art, London.

    Performances and screenings include: The Showroom, Hollybush Gardens, ICA and National Film Theatre, London, Art Metropole, Toronto, Karma International, Zurich, The Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens, Kettles Yard, Cambridge, The Palais Kabelwerk, Vienna, Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle.

    Residencies include: the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada, Fogo Island, Canada, Wysing Arts, Cambridge, The Sommerakademie, Zentrum Paul Klee, Switzerland.

    And soon I will be gone, she will be gone, he will be gone and the others too, and I don’t imagine there was ever an era before now when people were “gone” or “going” with such a frequency as they are now.

    Questions surrounding how we act together lie at the core of Pawlak’s practice. She aims to design structures for reflexive navigation of how and why we conform to systems and what the possibilities of breaking with patterns might offer. Pawlak devotes much of her attention to ongoing practical research into the potential for critical distance in augmented reality and the brandscape through working with performance, installation, moving image and workshops. One day she hopes to stop speaking about herself in the third person.
